Sumycin or tetracycline is a type of antibiotic which is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, chlamydia, gonorrhea, acne and others. It may also be used for other purposes that are not listed here.

You should also avoid exposure to sunlight as well as to artificial UV rays like those in sun lamps and tanning beds. This is because Sumycin or tetracycline could make your skin a lot more sensitive to sunlight, resulting into sunburn. If exposure is necessary, wear sunscreen of a minimum of SPF 15 and wear some protective clothing.

Sumycin or tetracycline can be less effective if taken with multivitamins, iron supplements, antacids, calcium supplements or laxatives. Make sure that you would not be taking these two hours before or after you take Sumycin.

Sumycin should not be used if you have an allergy to tetracycline or to other similar drugs like demeclocycline or Declomycin, doxycycline or Adoxa and minocycline or Dynacin. Sumycin should be taken with plenty of water. It should also be taken on an empty stomach. Try taking it an hour before or two hours after a meal.

Sumycin should also not be taken with milk and other dairy products, unless you were advised by your doctor. This is because dairy products could make it harder for the body to absorb the medicine.
