Indications for Generic Elocon 0.1%

Elocon 0.1% or mometasone furoate is a corticosteroid which is used to relieve the redness, itching and swelling which are associated with different skin conditions. It could also be used for other purposes and conditions as determined by your doctor.

Important Information about Generic Elocon 0.1%

You should not use Elocon 0.1% if you have an allergy to mometasone furoate or to similar drugs. Tell your doctor of any drugs and medications that you are taking orally such as prednisone or similar medicines. as well as those that you are applying topically to make sure that they would not be interacting with Elocon.

You also need to inform your doctor of any medical condition that you have. There are some medical conditions which could be aggravated with the use of Elocon 0.1%

You should not share Elocon 0.1% with another individual, even if that individual has the same symptoms or the same condition as yours.

As you use Elocon 0.1%, your doctor may require you to come in for regular checkups. Never miss any of these appointments.

Dosage and Administration of Generic Elocon 0.1%

Elocon 0.1% or mometasone furoate should only be used as it has been prescribed for you by your physician. Do not apply more than what has been advised or use it for extended periods of time without asking your doctor first.

Before applying the medication, wash the affected are first and dry it with a clean cloth. Apply a small amount to the affected area and gently rub it in until evenly distributed. Wash your hands after application, unless you applied the medication on your hands.

Do not use occlusive dressings such as bandages, unless otherwise directed by your physician. Doing so could increase the amount absorbed by the skin, possibly causing irritation.

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you can. However, if the next dose is almost up, just skip the missed one and then apply it on the next regularly scheduled dose.

If you overdose on Elocon, seek emergency medical help immediately. Some of the symptoms of an overdose with this medication would include increased thirst and urination, unusual weight gain and muscle weakness.

Possible Side Effects of Generic Elocon 0.1%

Elocon 0.1% or mometasone furoate could cause some side effects such as skin discoloration, rash, stinging, dry skin, burning, itching, redness and swelling. If you experience any of these as you use Elocon, contact your doctor.
