Indications for Generic Arimidex

Arimidex or anastrozole is new drug which has been developed for the effective treatment of advanced breast cancer. Arimidex belongs to a group of drugs which are known as third-generation selective oral aromatase inhibitors. It works through blocking aromatase, an enzyme which promotes estrogen production, thereby lessening the amount of estrogen released in the body. Because estrogen stimulates most forms of breast cancers cells, through reducing estrogen production, the progress of the cancer can be delayed or put to a halt.

Arimidex is generally prescribed for the treatment of hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Arimidex may also be used for the treatment of metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer.

Arimidex can also be used for other purposes or conditions as determined by your doctor.

Important Information about Generic Arimidex

A dose of Arimidex or anastrazole has been studied to cause estrogen suppression of more than 80% in patients treated.

Make sure to tell your doctor of any medical conditions that you are being treated for, especially if you have osteoporosis or other bone disease, ischemic heart disease and high cholesterol levels. If you have any of these or other medical conditions, your dose may have to be adjusted or changed.

When you are prescribed with Arimidex, you may be required by your doctor to come in for regular testing and checkups to make sure that the medication is helping your condition and not causing harm to your body.

Arimidex should never be taken if you are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant as it could harm an unborn child. Make sure to tell your doctor if you are already pregnant or if you get pregnant during treatment. Also tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding as the medication might affect your nursing baby.

Arimidex should never be taken with tamoxifen or with estrogen-containing therapies, unless otherwise advised by your physician. Tell your doctor of any other medications that you are taking to make sure that they would not interact with Arimidex.

Dosage and Administration of Generic Arimidex

Arimidex or anastrazole should only be taken as it has been prescribed by your doctor. Never take larger doses or take it for a longer period of time other than what has been recommended by your physician.

If you overdose on Arimidex, seek emergency medical help right away.
